Honey Lakes WORCSposted in Off-Road on May 17th 2010 at 4:16pm.

17 May 2010 0 Comments Kyle Summers in his first race outside of his Valli Motorsports previous team rode exValli teammate Bobby Bonds KX450 Kawasaki. Bonds (Bondo) just received collarbone surgery with a plate and 13 screws and knew his old Valli teammate Summers was in need of a bike after being released from Valli Motorsports 1 week before the Honey Lakes Worcs race. Bondo’s mechanic John Lyon was in the area visiting friends and didn’t have to be prodded too much to join the Summers effort. John had the bike meticulously prepared with new FullSpeed Graphics, tires along with his usual phenomenal mechanical prep. Summers was up against a bunch of hot running competition in the 4,000 elevation Honey Lakes Worcs event with Factory Kawasaki/Team Green Ricky Dietrich, Justin Soule and new Worcs competitor John Dowd taking over for the injured Destry Abbott. Current Worcs champion Mike Brown along with teammate Kurt Caselli (current points leader) and RPM/KTM teammates Brendan Ritzman and newly signed teammate Kevin Rookstool all were noted competitors looking for their spot on the podium. The massive slightly uphill start at Honey Lake showed why he is a former national Worcs champion and top 5 national mx rider as Ricky Dietrich pulled the holeshot over Mike Brown, Robby Bell, Nathan Woods and Kyle Summers. 2 minutes into the 2 hour race Summers hit a wet loose rock and hit his head pretty hard for an early finish unfortunately on his Kawasaki debut. Ricky Dietrich went on to win over Mike Brown by 30 seconds and then his teammate Kurt Caselli finished on the podium in third. Local Team Green rider Justin Soule finished fourth, Precision Concepts Kawasaki rider Robby Bell finished 5th while Kevin Rookstool on his inaugural ride for the RPM/KTM team finished a very respectable 6th OA after having his CamelBak DNF at the hour mark. 7th was JCR/Honda Colton Udall, 8th RPM/KTM Brendon Ritzman, 9th was Zip/Ty Husqvarnas Bobby Garrison while MXer turned offroader John “the junkyard” Dowd finished a respectable 10th
