So I had sort of a rough weekend at Laguna Seca!!
First off I want to thank everyone who helped make the weekend possible... Ben, Dave, Josh, James, Jim and Nickie from CRS Tuning, Randy, Tom and Deano!!! :P, Weston and Skye at Graves Motorsports!! and everyone else.
Thanks for being there everyone. My sponsors are Gpal.net, Calguns.net, TDS Guns, Greater Yamaha, AMF, APC, Leo Vince', Tech Spec USA,!! You guys are awesome!!
We had the ROUGHEST weekend EVER for me anyway...
Had a minor rear wheel issue that kept me out of the 50 min practice on friday while we had to find a chain adjuster and clean up some damage to my swingarm... Thanks to the AMA trying to get me back out there to get much needed track time.
Then I had to just jump right in the FIRE (qualifying) with no track time I ran 2 secs slower than I had the last time I rode there. They will go FASTER and so will I. During that first few laps I had a spec tire de-laminate a bit in the rear. Lucky I had the one ok lap because the motor blew up 1-2 laps later so my lap times suffered. I nursed it around to circulate and try to get a decent roller but finally fluid was in the bodypan and getting on me and the rear tire... End of the road for now.
Slippery and foggy it was not pretty but we were in albeit the rear of the grid. There where still about 6 racers behind me at this point.
We missed qualifying session # 2 with the bike not done yet as it took a few hrs to get a spare motor sorted out. Then as excited as I was to get a chance to test run the new motor and other stuff, I was soon bummed they canceled warm up on sunday before the race (fog again limited visability in a big way)
Soooo you guessed it... I had to test a new motor, new gearing, new forks and a new shock set up in the race. I even missed the parade lap and only got 1 warm up lap to see how the bike pulled with new gearing and other changes.
So I started 39th and past up to about 35th right off the start, I was pushed off in turn 2 into the dirt. Yup so I was 39th again going into turn 3-4. I ran a steady pace and was moving through the pack pretty well. I got up to 24th and then I ran off in the corkscrew. I think I allowed myself to be sucked into the lead packs pace.
While I was in the dirt 6-7 racers I JUST past went by as I had to clear my tires of dirt prior to getting back up to speed... AHHHH had I just not rushed it and stayed RIGHT where I was I would have made some money and been 18th-19th at the flag...
Sure it was FUN but bummed I was hoping for a top 15 and best and a top 20 at worst.
We learned a little more about set up of the bike which is coo and SOO neededl!!
And of course I made it out alive and with all that happen I guess a 24th from 39th is not terrible. :P
Thanks again so glad I got to meet a few more of you out there!!
I am trying to line up two new bikes so if you have any ideas please drop me a line.
Again thanks to ALL!!
More later BED for me now...

Great post, Craig - I had a giant gasp when you ran off the corkscrew. Scary.
