How I Started With Motocrossposted in Motocross on Sep 17th 2009 at 5:17pm.

My name is Patrick Garrahan and I have been motocross racing for 22 years. The first time I got to ride a motorcycle was when I was twelve, then for my sixteenth birthday I got a 125cc and got hooked. My Dad, Big Al, raced Scrambles and competed in Trials events when he was younger.  He had to give up riding when I was born but got back into riding when my brother and I grew up.  We took a few trips to Hollister and Clear Creek and when I turned sixteen my Dad and I started to race some of the local Hare Scrambles.  Once Brian started riding we would go nearly every weekend to Clear Creek with a group of friends and really learned how to ride. What I like about motorcycle racing is that it is an individual sport that is more fun than any other sport I have tried.  It also requires endurance and mental toughness. My favorite spot to ride continues to be Clear Creek. Riding and racing has taken me around the US and halfway around the world.  I have had many great experiences between all the great riding days and the people I have met. Today, Patrick and I aso operate G-Brothers Racing University, where we train the next generation of riders. Check out info on upcoming classes.
