Agendas differ as season reaches halfway markposted in NASCAR on Jul 9th 2010 at 12:12pm.

The 2010 Sprint Cup Series season has reached the halfway point, and there are eight races remaining until the cutoff prior to the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, including Saturday night's Lifelock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
With the Chase approaching, drivers have differing goals in mind for the eight races remaining in what has come to be known as the Race to the Chase -- races 17 through 26 on the schedule -- the final 10 races prior to the Chase cutoff coming up following the Sept. 11 event at Richmond International Raceway.
Several drivers currently occupying spots at or near the top of the points standings, while not locked into the top-12, have sizable enough cushions that they should feel pretty comfortable about their chances of being one of the 12 drivers eligible to compete for the series title after Richmond. Those drivers are focused on one thing and one thing only -- winning races. Since the points are reset based on race wins, drivers who are in fairly comfortable positions with the top-10 are focused on racking up wins to ensure prime spots in the Chase field.
