Changes continue in 2011posted in NASCAR on Jan 20th 2011 at 8:08am.

The 2010 NASCAR season saw a lot of changes, from NASCAR’s “boys have at it” stance of letting drivers police themselves to the first full season with the double-file restart and wave around rules and the beefed up attempt to end races under green by making up to three green-white-checker attempts. Changes will continue in 2011 and not just when it comes different faces in different places, but also changes from the sanctioning body, itself.

NASCAR has already approved new noses for Sprint Cup cars for this season and made a fuel switch from unleaded gasoline to E15 ethanol from Sunoco. On top of that, a new race track has been added to the Sprint Cup circuit for the first time in several years—Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky. And NASCAR may not be finished shaking things up; rumor has it that the points system may change dramatically.

NASCAR did say during the closing stages of the 2010 race season that changes to the points system could be on the horizon. Speculation has been all over the place regarding a system change throughout the offseason, mostly pertaining the the Chase for the Sprint Cup format. Over the last few days, though, rumors and speculation have gotten much more specific.
