NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee spotlight: Dale Inmanposted in NASCAR on Sep 1st 2010 at 1:13pm.

There's an old saying that goes, "Behind every good man, there's a good woman backing him up." The racing version of that saying could go something like, "Behind every great driver, there's a great crew chief calling the shots for him." That would at least be the case for NASCAR Hall of Fame member Richard Petty and the man who was his crew chief for most of his successes -- his cousin Dale Inman.

This time around, Inman is among the nominees up for induction to join Petty -- along with Dale Earnhardt, Junior Johnson, Bill France and Bill France Jr. -- in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Petty began his NASCAR crew chief career in 1958, and like Petty set the record for most wins by a driver at the Cup level, Inman set a similar record -- most wins for a crew chief with 193.
