With Red Byron in his car in 1949, Parks became NASCAR's first Cup-level champion car owner when his car won the title that year. He fielded cars in NASCAR in only three other seasons -- 1950, 1954, and 1955 -- producing two wins, 11 top-fives, and 12 top-10 finishes in 18 races.
