Porsche Panameraposted in Street on Oct 27th 2009 at 10:10am.

As you could tell from my Porsche Rennsport Reunion photos, I'm a huge Porsche fan.  Altho I must confess, I'm not crazy about the Cayenne.  But this new member of the Porsche family - the Panamera - is gorgeous.  I have no problems owning a 4 door car, especially since I own and adore my Evo 9 MR, and this Porsche is no exception. The rear seats fold down for extra storage altho the trunk is plenty big enough for your travel needs.  You can go directly to the source for the technical specs but here are a few highlights.
  • Models include Panamera S, 4S and Turbo.
  • All come with the front mounted 4.8-liter V8 and 7 speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung). Gas mileage is TBD (HA!).
  • The S is rear wheel drive, the 4s and Turbo are all wheel drives.
  • The S and 4S produces 400 horsepower at 6500 rpm, Turbo is 500 hp at 6000. (I'll take one turbo please!).
  • Max torque for the S and 4S is 369 lb-ft, the turbo is 516 lb-ft.
  • Compression ratio for the S and 4S is 12.5:1, the turbo is 10.5:1.
  • Curb weight for the S = 3968,  for the 4S = 4101, turbo = 4343.
  • The 4S and Turbo come with PTM (Porsche Traction Management) - an active all-wheel drive system with an electronically mapped multiplate clutch, and ABD (automatic brake differential) system.  The turbo has an Adaptive suspension.
All of them come with the stability management, and loads of enhancement systems.  This is a super smart car.  Bluetooth ready, Rear seat entertainment center, bose surround sound, automatic 4 zone climate control, home link, park assist, rearview camera, rain sensor wiper system, YIKES.  Where does it end? As the brochure says, "It does the thinking. You do the driving."  Sometimes I don't like the idea of that but I would feel safe leaving the thinking to Porsche. But, alas, all three are out of my price range: S = $90,000 4S = $94k Turbo = $133k But a girl can dream....
