There's nothing like the real thingposted in NASCAR on May 24th 2010 at 3:15pm.

If you’ve ever attended a sporting event of any kind you can attest to the fact the action at the venue in front of you cannot be captured in its entirety through a television broadcast. In spite of this fact, some are trying. Others fear these attempts will be successful. The advent of 3-D television has a few pundits wondering if the advanced visual experience may hurt attendance at the track. I emphatically say “NO WAY!” The sights, sounds and smells of live, in-person action cannot be duplicated. In fact, one of the unique pleasures for true race fans is the distinct aroma of spent racing fuel which fills the air when the first “fast-laps” of the day are turned. 3-D has no answer for that sensation! Likewise, in spite of how high your entertainment system’s volume can reach, even the best “Crank It Up” can’t compare with the intense noise generated at the track. Another pleasure unique to the live experience. Today’s advances in viewing technology certainly make the home-entertainment option much more enjoyable than in decade’s past. They cannot, however, compare favorably to the in your seat and on your feet enjoyment of witnessing our heroes live at the track.
